16 Months Old

As you can see by the badge at the top of the blog---it's already that time of year again, fundraising for the March of Dimes. Even if it is just $5, please have it in your heart to help this amazing cause!

Feb. 22, Bailey turned 16 months old...while mommy turned 28! AHHH! We tried to take a few pics today, that was a job! She is so cranky trying to cut her molars, bless her heart. She is doing great otherwise! Mommy also gave Bailey her 1st haircut Saturday night. I just cut about 1.5 inches off of her bangs, there were quite wild!!....didn't really see the point in paying someone to do that for me. It was quite simple. So, another milestone.....my baby is growing up and the time is flying by!!!

We are so looking forward to spring as everyone else around here! We are looking at getting Bailey some outdoor gear, playsets, sandbox etc...so we can have a good ole time when the weather gets nice & hopefully all her little toddler friends can come & play with her. We can't wait!

Happy 50th Grammy

Friday, Feb 13th, I pulled off quite the surprise...my mom's 50th birthday party.

It was heck getting her up here for it & she was constantly questioning this and that. The end result ended up in a complete surprise, especially thanks to Kris & Sonya. We had a very small gathering at Hacienda to celebrate. After a yummy meal, we all had delicious Cold Stone cupcakes...they were a big hit!! We all had a great time visiting with one another.....I later found out that was my mom's first birthday party ever. I had no idea, glad we could make it special for her.
To keep the surprises coming....Wendell & I got mom a new hair cut with high & low lights for her birthday. She had a surprise appointment Saturday morning with my hair guy (the first time we've gotten our hair done together)..... She loves it & looks great!!!!

Who's Out Smarting Who?

I guess the answer is Bailey...in a way. I am sure this post will find humor to some, however I am not laughing. I FINALLY figured out after several months of stress & confusion. Why won't Bailey eat veggies? Why won't she eat yogurt? She use to LOVE these things, what's the deal? Friday at the grocery store it hit me. I picked up a pack of her old YoBaby yogurt I use to buy her. Long story short, I get her home, pop off the lid...and she downed that container quicker than ever! You have got to be kidding me. I have wasted how much money on other yogurts for her to scream bloody murder and refuse to eat wether with her hands, spoon, or me feeding. Nothing worked. But now that she gets the "kind" that she wants, all is well in the yogurt department. Then, Sunday it hit me again....I bet she would eat her babyfood veggies. Then, I was determined not to do it. Then after reading a TON of posts on baby center that all sounded as if I wrote them with other moms in the same boat as me with babie's same age & way older than Bailey! So....I went and bought the dreaded baby food. Wouldn't you know it. She downed a jar for lunch and for supper in addition to her other food. As much as I hate for her to be back on baby food for veggie purposes, at least I know she is eating some form of a veggie.

Bailey's diet is TERRIBLE! Everyone said, "oh, it's so easy, my kid just eats whatever we are having for supper." WRONG...she will ONLY eat, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, HOT DOGS, mac & cheese, ham, eggs, waffles, oatmeal, french toast/ pancakes, french fries, string cheese, any kind of cracker/chip, dry cereal, occasionally pasta with red sauce. The pasta has to be her special kind of noodle, she will only eat 2 kinds of noodles. Any other shape, it's on the floor! Anything you see not listed means we have more than likely tried it with her several times and it was a scream fest and food throwing marathon. All she hollers for when in her high chair is, "hot dog".....AHHH!!!!

She won't even finger feed fruit anymore. Dried apples & raisins are all she'll eat. Not even applesauce...unless it is in a baby food jar. It is quite ridiculous, but how do you reason with a 15 month old, you don't! I've been trying everything since November, and she won't budge... We have tried every tactic.....I guess she wasn't ready to give the baby food up back in November. I rushed her because everyone else around her age was eating big people food but her. I shouldn't have done that now I am kicking myself because I have risked her nutrition, even though I thought it was her pickiness just not wanting veggies/fruits at all. I am so aggrevated....We rarely eat out anymore...I cook all of the time trying to save money...NOW we get to go back to feeding her baby food fruits & veggies.
At least I know we are not alone and there are plenty of other kids just like B out there. She'll eat a piece of broccoli one of these days

I need to just accept it and just be happy she is extremely healthy & that is what is important...not that fact that she'll eat regular meats but wants her veggies pureed. AHHHH! No best mommy of the year award here! :(

Her cough is getting better, but her nose is still a faucet running clear. She got 3 molars in at once without us even knowing! Now she is trying to get in the other molar and the 2 teeth on either side of her front middle teeth & the crankiness/ fussiness, cries through the night, awaking in the middle of the night, decreased appetite are here.

On a lighter note: Bailey's number one favorite thing is books still! She LOVES them! Her #2 thing that she has discovered a recent love for is wooden puzzles. We only have 2 that have the picture on the board as well as the puzzle piece.....and of course they are of animals...her other passion. This video is cute!
.
On another light note: Keenan and I are actually planning a little vacation! We are going to go to Lake Guntersville, Alabama the 1st full week in April. Yes to FISH. We are BOTH very much looking forward to it! it is only 3 hours from mom's house, who will be watching Miss B...for 4 nights!!!

Getting Back To Normal

If we would have known that a major winter storm was coming straight for us. We would have never taken that trip to Cinci. That was just 2 more nights that Bailey didn't get the comfort of her crib & it was a long time to ride in the car seat.

Well, as of Tuesday night at 11pm the Hape household was without power after flickering on and off since 6pm. We made it through the night then got out Wed morning to go to K's parents house. He actually had to get out and move a tree that was covering the entire road! It took about 10 minutes..he had forgotten his gloves & didn't have an axe or saw..just had to bully it off the road. His parents didn't have power either but had a generator. After spending a not so fun day & night there & waking up to 59 degrees...Bailey & I headed off to Bowling Green to my mom's (Thursday morn), per Keenan's request. Keenan stayed behind to work since he took Wednesday off trying to take care of us and figure out what needed to be done. We thankfully got MOST of the fridge food in coolers and sat them outside. Only had to throw away a few things...better than losing it ALL like when IKE hit...Keenan was going to attempt to stay at our home Thursday night, but it was 48 degrees. Thankfully, our good friends Rusty & Melissa offered him to stay at their house! What a blessing! I slept better that night knowing he wasn't trying to tough it out at home....THANK YOU!!!!

Bailey and I came back home from Grammy's in Bowling Green Saturday around noon. All was well & we ordered pizza that night. Keenan ended up having to help the delivery man out of our street. There is STILL ICE covering it! That was a site, Keenan with t-shirt, shorts, NO JACKET & flip flops pushing this dude's truck. FUNNY sight. All was well till Monday when Bailey and I were left with out power from 12:45-4:45, it was quickly cooling off in the house. Then Tuesday morning the winds knocked out power from about 6a-8a. Not too bad just frustration & a lot of WORRY!!!

During all of this Bailey has got a nasty cough which kept her awake for 4 hrs straight in the middle of the night Monday! With the advice of a friend, I just tried Vicks slathered all over her feet, then socks...then put to bed. She didn't cough one time during her 2 hour nap!! She hasn't had a nap that long in 2 weeks!! What a great TIP! So hopefully, things are getting back to normal around here. At least, I HOPE! These are a few pics I took the Saturday we got home from Grammy's. I wished I had taken pics Wed morning of the freshly fallen snow. :(
